T-Minus 100 Days And Counting!

With 100 days till Christmas, I feel it is the perfect time to publish my Christmas and birthday wishlist for this year. Since my birthday is on the 27th of December, my wishlists are combined. Now Christmas is my favorite holiday; the spirit, the decorations, the good will to others, all of it makes it such a wonder time of the year. I will say I did wish my birthday was in the middle of the year like many others because they get to have birthday gifts in the middle of the year and Christmas gifts at the end of the year… Lucky Bastards!

Food is the only medium in art that utilizes 4 of the five senses, taste, touch, sight, and smell. The best chefs know and play with all of these senses to give the customer a really wonderful experience. The food and restaurants don’t have to be very expensive or well known to be wonderful and bring up wonderful memories. With that being said my best friend, Naeroby Nunez, is a true artist and a wonderful chef. Naeroby is currently a sous chef at 1789, a classic American restaurant in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC.

Another Step Towards True Freedom

On June 26th 2015, the United States Supreme Court made a legendary ruling stating that same-sex couples have the right to marry in the United States of America. States can no longer prevent or not recognize same sex unions with this decision. This allows same sex couples to now have the same benefits as other marriages. For the land of the free, this is very historic time where rights and freedoms of more Americans are being issued.

Already 10 Years Later

There are many times where I think back to fond memories in high school where I think of close friends or things that happened. These memories are sometimes so vivid that I feel like they are fresh and just occurred the day before. It is hard to imagine how ever that these memories are 10 years old or even older. I was able to reminisce many of these memories and even several I completely forgot about a few weeks ago with old friends. It really is hard to imagine that over 10 years ago, I graduated from high school and even more hard to imagine that we have now had our 10 year high school reunion weekend. Yes, you read that correctly, Weekend!!! A three hour small gathering is not long enough to catch up with old friends and find out what everyone is up to these days. So our high school reunion committee made it into a small weekend event. A good choice if you ask me because picking a date when everyone is free and able to attend is difficult especially at our age when so many of our friends are getting married and money is still a major factor in plans.

Cheers to the Scheers

On July 25th, 2015 in a historic train station in Virginia, my brother set forth on a journey with the love of his life. Sarah and my younger brother were married and I couldn’t be happier for them. I had the honor of standing by my brothers side as his best man and the whole thing went without a hitch. From what I could tell the two of them were not nervous about if the other was the one; instead they were excited and ready to be together.

2378 Miles

Last year I did not really have the time or money to go on a trip just for my self. I did want to go to Vegas or camping somewhere however with work and classes getting in the way I had to crap those plans. This year I wanted to make it more about myself and what I wanted to do. It is safe to say I have alot more going on this year than I have in prior years. I have two weddings to go to this year, one of which is my brothers, and classes and work are taking up more of my time. One big event I really wanted to attend was my best friend Siera’s college graduation on Sunday May 3… in Hancock Michigan. That’s right, back to da UP. I must say timing was on my side because her graduation also landed on the best weekend for nerds this year, May 2. I call it the best weekend for nerds because of everything that was going on: Avengers Age of Ultron came out on Friday May 1, Free Comic Book day was on Saturday May 2, and Monday May 4 is ofcourse Star Wars Day. I decided that to make it a real vacation was to stop and stay in Chicago for all the fun events for each of these days. Best decision ever!

This past weekend we said goodbye to a person I looked up to for a long time. Leonard Nimoy  passed away on the morning of Febuary 27th. He was a cultural icon for many by taking on the role as Spock in the tv show Star Trek. While Star Trek only lasted for 3 season it helped spark the imagination of many and open up the thoughts of the future and taking care of the needs of the many. Gene Rodenberry, the creator of Star Trek, created a future where people of all races and creeds, genders and even worlds would be able to work together. Their goals of exploration and science over greed and self indulgence helped many nerds, including myself, to want to become scientists and care for the future of man-kind.

Yea Yea Yea… So its has been a while friends since I have posted anything and well I have been SOOOOO busy. There are so many things I have been wanting to write about discuss such as Philae probe landing on comet 67P, the planned manned Orion mission to Mars, Simpsons Tapped Out, World of Warcraft progress, Star Trek Online, and so much more. With that being said I will probably touch on the science stuff very soon.

The Lore of the Shadow Priest Trigne

As Blizcon 2014 takes place I honor the game with a short three part story I wrote. It follows the World of Warcraft character I have, Trigne who I have been playing for many years now. It also has a few excerpts from events that happened to me in game. I hope you enjoy and I might write more later with the new expansion pack coming.

The Awesome Pixar Theory

The other night I was kind of bored and wanted a good movie to watch. After looking through all of dvds (if you have seen my collection you know I have a decent choice) and I chose a movie that doesn’t get old and is very very good, Incredibles. Pixar has made many movies and sequels and I am still trying to figure out why the Incredibles has yet to see a sequel. So while I was watching it I did altitude research on IMDb and then online. I randomly stumbled on something interesting, an article talking about fan theories to Pixar movies the main one called the Pixar theory by Jon Negroni.

Overprotective much….

A while back in the news there was a story about a mother who was charged for neglecting her seven year old son… for letting him walk to the park alone. Yes, a Florida mother was charged for letting her son go to the park with out proper supervision. This is absurd right? I ask because as a child growing up my brother and I had a playground down the street of our house and a lot of times would ride our bikes there.

Guess who’s back, back again…

Trigne is back! For those of you who don’t know, Trigne is my one and really only World of Warcraft character. I do have a banker as well but primarily I am playing with Trigne. I became bored after work recently and honestly have needed a big escape from reality recently thanks to my personal and work lives. We all need an escape from time to time and this is mine.

For those of you that know me, I enjoy the theater and live acts. Any time I am in New York I want to attend atleast one Broadway show. Since New York is a good hike from DC I have to suffice with the shows in town. One of my favorite groups that visits the nations capital regularly is Cirque Du Soliel. I make it a habit to attend their shows when possible and take people with me to enjoy them as well.

Fond Memories

I am sorry to say that my step-grandfather, Veikko, passed away on Saturday, August 30th, 2014. Even though he was technically my step-grandfather, he had always been around since I can remember and in my eyes he was my grandfather as much as my other grandfather, Pentti. Personally this is very hard for me because he was someone we visited regularly and with very fond memories of. Some of my earliest memories are of being back in Finland on the farm just southeast of Lahti in a small place called Hollala.

Death is inevitable but it is always hard when it happens to someone good. On August 11th 2014, Robin Williams committed suicide. Robin was a good man, simple as that but he had his troubles, he had suffered from addictions and the early stages of Parkinson’s. If anyone used their fame to help others it was Robin and he did it in such a manner that not everyone knew.

My little brother, Harri, is getting married… Last night he proposed to a wonderful woman, Sarah, (she did say yes!) and I couldn’t be any happier for the two of them. He did it in front of her family on the OBX which is very simple but perfect in my opinion. My brother deserves the best and someone that really loves him even through disagreements and troubles. She is a good person and has a good family behind her, my brother chosen well and I will be proud to call her sister (-in-law). I am glad she keeps in contact with myself and my parents and includes us in plans. I personally consider that an important trait and it has helped me become closer with my brother. My family absolutely loves her and we think it is a great match and one that will last a very long time.

An Epic Galactic Tale

So my Thursday ended up to be a very shitty and stressful day. Work was a real pain and everything kept on failing me from computer issues to forgetting where I put documents for a short while. I had a bad day (Friday didn’t end up any better) and I needed something to take my mind off things, even if it was just for a few hours. As the huge nerd that I am, I was looking forward to seeing the newest addition to the Marvel movie universe. Guardians of the Galaxy came out on the day I needed a perk the most.
